Scott Zolkos PhD student from the University of Alberta (Canada) was appointed last week in Ottawa as the 1st early career scientist member (ECS) of the T-MOSAiC EXCOM. Scott studies the effects of permafrost thaw on carbon cycling in the western Canadian Arctic and has been involved in T-MOSAiC since the beginning of the project. APECS will manage a call for a 2nd ECS member to the EXCOM in early January. T-MOSAiC is strongly committed with the ECS involvement in all phases of the program. Welcome aboard Scott.
Sergey Kirpotin, director of the TSU Center for Excellence Bio-Clim-Land and T-MOSAiC Steering Committee member won the Arctic Award 2018, established by the Arctic World Club and the Association of Polar Explorers. The Tomsk scientist is engaged in research on climate change.
The 3rd T-MOSAiC workshop took place on December 10th during the ASM 2018 Conference in Ottawa, Canada. The workshop was focused on the Implementation Plan and several scientific topics were discussed in a Pan-Arctic implementation perspective. We thank all the speakers and attendees for these excellent exchanges. We are now on the road to the 4th T-MOSAiC open workshop, to be held in Arkhangelsk, Russia, on May 2019.
T-MOSAiC Steering Committee (SC) meeting is taking place in Ottawa during the ASM 2018. Besides the Science Plan, important discussions concerning the Implementation Plan, the involvement of early career researchers and the importance of indigenous participation is being discussed. Twenty members of the SC participated in the meeting including 7 early career researchers. Scott Zolkos from Canada was also appointed as the 1st ECR member of the EXCOM.
T-MOSAiC Science Plan has been released today and will be firstly presented next December 10th at the 3rd T-MOSAiC workshop in Ottawa. The Science Plan resulted from a series of discussions in International workshops and among the Arctic community. The document was prepared and revised by the T-MOSAiC EXCOM and Steering Committee.
