The planning of T-MOSAiC has developed through a series of international workshops sponsored by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC), culminating in the T MOSAiC Science Plan that was released at the third workshop, in Ottawa, Canada (T-MOSAiC 2018). The Implementation Phase of T-MOSAiC is the establishment of Action Groups (TMAGS) focused on specific questions and outputs within the Science Plan framework. TMAGS are formally established through the Executive Committee of T-MOSAiC in response to specific suggestions and requests from the Steering Committee and other interested parties.
Each TMAG relates to a specific theme or group of activities of T-MOSAIC and can be linked to one or more subject areas in the T-MOSAiC Science Plan diagram.
Each TMAG will identify by mid-December 2019 specific outputs that they will work towards achieving in 2020. These outputs will be related to the system-level perspectives in the Science Plan, with emphasis on linking measurements from multiple sites in the Arctic. Each of these outputs should have a focused objective and activity, for example: synthesis of a data on a specific subject; a review paper on a particular topic; comparative field measurements during 2020 and release of data for a specific question or hypothesis; the development of a model for a particular type of system or key variable; the application of a specific protocol at multiple sites; or the production of outreach material on a certain topic.
